A star is born.

1995 Custom Build ‘Alpha Crucis’

This beautiful custom-built classic ocean-going cruising yacht will give its new owners the opportunity to live their dreams as we have been living ours.

That may or may not include traversing the world’s oceans, visiting countries, coastal cruising, exploring inland waterways and canals or just resting up in coves, docks and marinas.

This is a vessel that has done all of that and more…  safely and in comfort, with all of the amenities required for extended and short term enjoyment.

We have found her to have a blend of attributes that suit the scenarios described above wonderfully well.  In our extensive search for such a vessel we were unable to find anything equal to her from the myriads of branded stock boats, new and used, on the market at that time.

We did have the added advantage of racing and cruising extensively in our own boats in our own back yard… the South West Pacific.

Prior to acquiring “Alpha Crucis” we had the following key criteria in mind. These are in addition or in concert with all the other characteristics required in a well found ocean going sailing vessel:

  • A spacious main cabin with bed access from three sides.
  • A spacious main saloon that included the galley as part of it.
  • Easy access within and to the engine room.
  • Easy access from the transom for boarding, scuba diving and swimming.
  • Capable of being sailed across the oceans by just the two of us safely and comfortably.

We searched New Zealand, Australia and beyond and none of the stock boats had these attributes in the style and quality that we thought we needed.  “Alpha Crucis” appeared to fit the bill.

History has proven our choice to be an excellent one. Since acquiring her in 2002 we have sailed some 50,000 nautical miles, with just the two of us on ocean passages and coastal cruising with family and friends in a number of countries.

It is time to hand over “Alpha Crucis” to her new owners. That could be you! Bon Voyage…. Terry and Lois Rogers

Owners History

A brief history from the owner.

We are Terry and Lois Rogers from Auckland, New Zealand.
Together we have sailed this vessel in Australia, Australia to New Zealand, in New Zealand waters, and now since August 2005 have been undertaking our “Living the Dream” adventure by sailing to Europe and back.

Prior to all of that and since we sailed all year round in New Zealand and extensively in the southwest Pacific in our previous yacht, a beautiful well found 39 foot sloop.

Lois (63 years) has been sailing for almost 25 years and Terry (77 years) has been boating and sailing all of his life. Terry is almost 6-foot three and has, and is, enjoying the 2.22 metre headroom in the saloon and the space in the engine room and in the bilge area afforded by the design of “Alpha Crucis”.

Being able to do what we have done, at our age, is a true testament to the safety, practicality and comfort that “Alpha Crucis” provides.

Most of the time of course, we are coastal cruising or at rest. In this mode we often have family and/or friends on board and without exception they cannot believe the level of comfort and pleasure that they experience. The spacious uncluttered deck and the ample dimensions of the transom area and the companionway make entertaining and enjoyment all the more pleasurable.
